[논평] 미국과 북한은 제2차 미북 정상 회담에서 북한 인권 이슈를 논의하라!
[Commentary] The second summit between the US and North Korea must discuss North Korean Human Rights Issues


우리나라 속담에 이런 말이 있다.
There is a saying in Korea,

"집에서 새는 바가지 밖에서도 샌다."
​"A bowl that leaks at home also leaks outside."

이 속담이 그대로 적용되는 예가 바로 북한이다.
This saying directly applies to the current situation in North Korea.

한 국가가 자국민을 어떻게 대하는 지를 보면, 그 국가가 주변국들을 어떻게 대할지도 알 수 있다.
A government's treatment of its own people is an indication of its intentions to the rest of the world.

왜냐하면 자국민의 권리를 존중하지 않는 국가는 주변국의 권리도 존중하지 않기 때문이다.
A country that does not respect the rights of its own people will not respect the rights of its neighbours.

자국민의 인권을 유린하는 김정은이 트럼프 대통령을 언제 봤다고 진정성을 가지고 핵무기 폐기를 논의하겠는가?
Kim Jong-un violates the rights of his own people. Why would he discuss dismantlement of nuclear weapons with president Trump in sincerity?

경제적 이득이 생기고 자신의 정권유지에 도움이 되는 동안만 김정은이 핵무기 개발을 보류할 것은 자명한 일이다.
It is clear that Kim Jong-un is delaying development of nuclear weapon only when there is an economic gain and it helps maintain his grip on power.

그런데도 혹자는 그동안 북한이 핵실험을 하지 않고 있으므로 성공이라고 말한다.
Some say that North Korea has not been testing nuclear weapon, and therefore this is a success.

깡패에게 맞던 사람이 돈을 주는 동안 맞지 않으니, 주위사람들에게 봐라, 깡패가 나를 안 때리지 않느냐고 자랑하는 것과 무엇이 다른지 되묻고 싶다.
To this, let me ask you this. A ganster will stop hitting you while you pay him up. Does this merit you boasting to people around you since he has stopped hitting you?

작년 10월 펜스 미 부통령은 다음과 같이 말한 바 있다. "역사가 증명하듯 자국민의 인권을 유린하는 국가가 거기서 멈추는 경우는 없다."
Last October, US vice president Pence said, "As history attests, a country that oppresses its own people rarely stops there."

즉, 북한 주민들의 인간적 권리를 유린하는 김정은은 주변국의 권리도 유린할 것이고, 북한 인권 유린 문제는 결국 주변국에게는 국가 안보 문제인 것이다.
In other words, Kim Jong-un who violates North Korean Human Rights will also violate the rights of its neighbours, and North Korean Human Rights violation is essentially a national security issue.

따라서 트럼프 대통령이 김정은과 만나서 북한의 인권 유린 문제에 대해서 논의하지 않는 정상회담은 김정은에게 시간만 벌어줄 뿐이다.
Therefore, the second summit without North Korean Human Rights on the agenda is only giving more time to Kim Jong-un.

대한애국당은 앞으로도 계속해서 북한의 인권 유린 이슈가 단순히 인도주의적, 이상주의적 이슈가 아니고, 대한민국과 주변국들의 안보 이슈라는 점을 명확히 짚고 대응해 나아갈 것이다.
The Korean Patriots Party will continue to clearly define North Korean Human Rights violation as a security issue for the Republic of Korea and neighbours instead of a simple humanitarian and ideological issue, and respond accordingly.
